Web Feeds
What is a web feed?
You may have seen the terms RSS or Atom on the internet; or seen this orange icon in your web browser. RSS and Atom are types of web feeds. If you use Google Reader, or subscribe to podcasts in iTunes, you are already using web feeds.
A web feed is essentially a list of articles published by a website. It is updated when ever a new article is posted. Your feed reader recognizes this update, then shows you a link to the new article, or the article itself.
Some examples of feed readers are: Google Reader and Feed Demon. Many email programs have built in web feed capabilities; for example, Apple Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Microsoft Outlook.
