What is the HOA?

Your Union and You

The HOA represents you in collective bargaining with the Regents of the University of Michigan.  The HOA works on your behalf to secure benefits and conditions, which are commensurate with the services you provide.  These benefits include a competitive salary, health, life, and disability insurance, paid vacation, holiday pay, and an appropriate work environment, which together supports the Health System’s goals and objectives.

The HOA Board is made up of residents and fellows who have been either nominated by their peers, or themselves, to run in a yearly election.  As long as you attend a majority of the monthly meetings, and remain a member in good standing, you are eligible for reelection.

The 2012 – 2013 Executive Board and Representative members are Michael Lanham, President, Ob/Gyn, Avi Giladi, Vice President, Plastic Surgery, Justin Junn, Secretary, Ob/Gyn, Erika Dickson, Treasurer, Ob/Gyn, and representatives Ketti Augusztiny, Family Medicine, Dorothy Gotlib, Psychiatry, Gail Larsen, Internal Medicine, Jack Li, Internal Medicine, and Melissa Roberts, Med/Peds Chief.

The Collective Bargaining Agreement can be found in its entirety on the HOA website, www.hoaumich.org.  For specific questions, contact the Administrative Coordinator, Robin Tarter, rtarter@med.umich.edu or call 734-936-9205.
