As clinicians, consider all the options for your existing patients when it comes to scheduling care.  Help Michigan Medicine to improve access and reduce unnecessary Emergency Department visits by refering existing patients experiencing conditions outlined by ADTU referral guidelines.

Ambulatory Diagnostic & Treatment Unit - FAQ


Providers are encouraged to contact ADTUs on a case-by-case basis to determine if the ADTU is right for their patients. The following diagnoses are generally NOT appropriate for the ADTU.

• Controlled substances dependence, addiction, narcotic seeking behavior • TB evaluation • Unstable airway/unstable hemodynamics • Acute neurological deficits/status • Suspected cardiac event, tachyarrhythmia • CF patients with new respiratory symptoms • Home ventilator • Asymptomatic hypertensive urgency
