Work Hours Defined
Are you reporting accurately?
Clinical and educational work hours are defined as all clinical and educational activities related to a residency/fellowship training program.
This includes all patient care and any related administrative duties, time spent in-house during call, any time devoted to patient care activities while on at-home call, any time spent moonlighting, and all scheduled academic activities, such as conferences. Any tasks related to performance of these duties (including completion of medical records and similar tasks, submitting orders and reviewing lab tests, signing verbal orders and time spent on research), even if performed at home, count toward the 80-hour limit. Clinical and educational work hours DO NOT include reading and preparation time spent away from the duty site or looking for a place to park at a duty site.
