Income Based Loan Repayments
House Officers could be impacted by the injunction placed on the SAVE Act and its potential impacts on Income-Based Repayment plans. Info sessions from AFT are scheduled for April.
The US Eighth Circuit recently upheld an injunction on the SAVE Act, one of the laws that established income-based repayment programs for those with student loan debt, like most House Officers.
For now, loans remain in forbearance, but the long-term impact on House Officers is far from clear at the moment.
Our national affiliate, AFT, is putting together information for best practices our members can follow in the event loan repayment plans get completely hollowed out by the US government.
AFT's updated student debt clinics will have good information for our members. The HOA encourages interested members to attend.
