Last night, the House of Representatives passed a tax and spending bill that included a provision removing time spent in residency as qualifying for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. The bill moves on to the senate.

Residents work long, grueling hours caring for patients and ensuring the US healthcare system and its hospitals function on a daily basis. Despite this, politicians in Washington want to alter the law so that those hard years in medical residency do not count as time "worked" for the purposed of loan forgiveness under the PSLF Act.
Hardworking interns and residents deserve to have their work respected and counted. Residency is employment and work — very demanding work.
