FAQ
House Officers Lounge
Details on the HO Lounge located in Univeristy Hospital, and how to get access.
The House Officer's Lounge is a bargained-for space included in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. Originally it was designed as a space where House Officers could gather and relax, watch television, grab a cup of coffee, and discuss issues of interest—including patient care—in a secure environment.
Today, the lounge has morphed into a multi-functional space with 12 computer workstations (each with a phone), 2 LaserJet printers, break tables, a hot beverage station, a television, a massage chair, and couches. The lounge is a lunch and break destination for many House Officers. It is typically frequented by House Officers assigned to consult services.
The "HO Lounge," as it's referred to by many, doesn't replace your team rooms or the responsibility the University has, through your program, to provide you with adequate resources. The House Officers Association manages the lounge and generally maintains the space. Although we receive funding through hospital operations for printing supplies, all other financial support of the space is paid for with house officer dues.
Location
Room UH 2 F210, located in the exit hallway of the UH Cafe, across from Einstein Bros. Bagels.
Access
The HO Lounge is for the exclusive use of HOA members. This excludes medical students, who do not have access to the space. However, for educational purposes, from time to time, medical students will be allowed in the space when accompanied by a House Officer.
If you are a dues-paying member of the HOA and your M-card is not opening the door, please let us know so we can have your access corrected.
