In January, the HOA was approached by residents who were working night rotations at IHA Chelsea. With the cafeteria's somewhat limited hours, the House Officers who arrived for night shifts often found themselves without access to food. As the HOA contract and ACGME policies dictate, residents and fellows need 24-hour access to food while on shift, as many of our members are unable to leave the hospital during rotations.

After a grievance filed by the HOA and productive follow up with IHA Chelsea by our Labor Relations counterparts, we are happy to let our members know that there will now be 24-hour access to fresh food for those rotating in Chelsea.

The Chelsea food services staff will be stocking meal vending machines with salads, sandwiches, and entrees that can be reheated. If you are working a night shift at Chelsea, please utilize them and contact the HOA if you notice any recurring issues with food access.
