The Grand Round Up

Here is what is going on in UM Labor in June of 2026.

Below are some of the things that other labor unions at UM are working on this month:

  1. The Nurses of MNA-UMPNC are still negotiating with the hospital. Last month, the MNA held a large informational picket regarding lack of movement from the hospital on raises, This month they will be holding a rally at the UM Regent's Meeting on 6/25. Wear red on Wednesdays to show support. A limited number of red surgical caps are available in the HOA office for those who want to show solidarity.
  2. The Lecturer's Union (LEO) has a wage re-opener for its members at the Flint campus. In their last contract, LEO and UM agreed that if Flint met certain enrollment targets this year they would re-open their wage article for potential increased compensation for the lecturers. UM-Flint far surpassed those enrollment targets. The HOA supports them and asks our members to sign this letter of support.
  3. The graduate students of GEO are still in negotiations with the University and are seeking a contract that would include Research Assistants for the first time since 1975. The Post-Doc union, UMPRO, has also begun negotiations for its first contract.
  4. Lastly, the HOA's affiliate union, AFT, is seeking responses on an affordability survey for Washtenaw County. Please consider filling it out as your input is important.
