After hearing concerns from members that the after-hour Halal food options were lacking at the hospital, the HOA initiated a discussion with facilities at one of our regular meetings about addressing it.

In short, there were no after-hours meat options for those who keep to a Halal diet in the hospital.

After a discussion, facilities was able to work with Aramark, the food vendor for Michigan Medicine, and provide after-hours meal boxes that contain meat that is Halal certified. The boxes will be available in both the UH Cafe and the Mott 24 Hour Market starting today (11/25/24).

Thank you to our members who brought this issue forward and to the facilities department for addressing it so quickly. Our members work long hours and late into the night so ensuring everyone has access to food that meet their dietary needs is important.
